A backlink is a link from another website that points to your website. Google fond of sites that have a lot of quality backlinks. Because in the eyes of search engines, a site that has a lot of quality backlinks is a site that has a high popularity. Thus, the more a website or blog has quality backlinks, the better the site in the eyes of search engines. Backlinks are very influential to search engines, because the more backlinks you have the more opportunities you’ll have to get a high pagerank and perched in first place in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP).
Basically, backlinks are divided into two types, namely dofollow backlinks and nofollow backlinks. Let’s look at the difference:
Dofollow links are links that will continue to be followed by the search engine robots. For example, when I put a dofollow link and if the robots follow (indexing) my blog then the robots will follow where the direction of the link. Dofollow backlinks can be termed as more quality backlinks when compared to nofollow backlinks especially if the sources have high PageRank.
Nofollow links are the opposite of dofollow backlinks. For example, when I put a nofollow link on my blog and when robots crawl my blog, the robots will not follow where the direction of the link and ignore it. But you must realize that nofollow backlinks can also be indexed but still not able to match the quality possessed by dofollow backlinks.
It’s much recommended for you to get the source of quality backlinks for example from sites that have a high PageRank or from sites with Top Level Domain (TLD). You can exchange links with other website owners. By building a strong or friendly relationship with others you can get a lot of quality backlinks without spending a lot of money. You can start building good relationship with others by visiting a lot of webmaster-based forums you can find on Internet, such as Digital Point, Warrior Forum, etc.
A Google’s algorithm developer, Matt Cutts said that “1000 backlinks from unqualified sites will not be able to beat 100 backlinks from quality sites.” From this statement we can conclude that Google prefers quality backlinks (dofollow and high pagerank). In other words, Google prefers “quality” over “quantity”. Backlink is one of the parameters in SEO. Before you equip your website with various Bulk SEO Tools, you must ensure that your website has quality backlinks by a considerable amount. The backlink development is one of important things to do before doing other SEO actions.
In building the backlinks, you need to be aware of a relationship between backlink quantities with the time used. Build backlinks on a website with a too much number and in a short time will give a signal to the search engines that your site is optimized by excessive means. A risk that could happen is that your website will experience a decrease in ranking or even be banned.
